Finished Game

This probably last post about the DDRunner today we are gladly presenting the finish product that DDRunner is. We have get through many obstacles and problems during this project. But in the end we were able to finish it by doing our best. I can only say thank you to my team for creating such as project a DDRunner.

But for everyone that are interested in DDRunner we have bad news we are not publishing it to the public. However, we can show you some goodies like gameplay.

Player Score


At the end of the game, the player would need to get 5,000 points. I have set up a code that will check if the player has gotten that many points and will end the game once the player gets it.

In here, you can see the score go up whenever the player defeats an enemy.

Final Level! - 22/03/2017

As for the final level of the game, the player would be playing a shoot-em-up game and will need to defeat the boss.
Things that are implemented are the player, enemy, projectile and the enemy projectile.

Volume slider

We wanted to make a volume slider in the game so I started to make it and I was able to make a working one
This blueprint is just to make the widget appear on the options map, show the cursor and make that you can only control the UI (widget will be focused)




This part of the blueprint is focusing on setting the volume into a float and with that float you can set up the volume of it in another blueprint






This is the part where you bring the float into and with that it controls the volume and the time of the sound. 


Edit note: The slider works perfectly in a new project but unfortunately it doesn't work in the project and we don't have time to fix it so the volume slider project is scraped.

Progress Report 20/03/2017

This is a short progress report for 20/03/2017 of DDRunner

*Implemented Dialog
Dialog between player and characters in the game will show better understanding of the lore and story we have created for this game



*A.I is working perfectly inside of the game.
Implemented A.I can finally find the way to the player on the sight.




*Option Menu have sound implemented and fixed.
Option menu has been finally reworked and we have been implement a slider that will allow players to change the volume of the game.





*Implemented four levels
The game has been having four levels in the game however, at the fourth level where is a boss battle we haven't program it yet. Since we having a little bit of difficulties with the collision of the foe.




*Fixed lighting on level three
Lighting was acting weird and at this state I increase the brightness to avoid any future problems.




*Implemented debug menu






Bug Fixes of 13/03/2017

Presenting the current state of fix bugs and small improvements.
*Sprites doesn't disappear when character is 5 meters away from them
*light is not increasing it's brightness all of sudden
*Footsteps implemented (still need a little bit of tweaks)
*Added more background items
*Animation doesn't look clunky anymore
*Implemented Menu
  **Option menu need to be fixed
* Character no longer start 5 meters above the ground
*Character is no longer the same size of a bin
*Character is no longer jumping higher than it should

Alpha-Testing - 13/03/2017

Today, we have asked people to test our games and asked them if there are things that we should change or improve with our game. Some people told us to more enemies but most of them told us to create a variety of levels as well as increase the difficulty of it. The only bug that they found in our game was the lightning problem that we have already noticed and have started fixing.

What we're doing now is adding more levels as well as increase the difficulty each level. We will also try to create different variety of enemies so that it wouldn't just be one enemy for the game.

Mute button

I have Created flipflop system where you press M button to mute and if you press it again it mutes it. This might be implemented into the menu and have this in a widget blueprint where there would have a button in menu that would mute it.

New Assets! - 13/03/2017

Additions

Since the last assets update, I have created 2 other different versions of the bookshelf. We have decided to make this to make the stage not look like its just repeating over and over again.



I have also created other assets, a flower pot and a trash can, to make the corridor not look like its plain and empty.



We have also started created assets for the enemies and helpers, which are slimes, that will teach the player how to play the game.






Codes for the AI has also been implemented, we are still working on making it fully functional.

Changes

We have tried two different kinds of codes for the AI, the first one didn't work as we couldn't make it move as we wanted it to so we have changed it for a new one where we can use the navigation mesh in a 3D plane to make it move where we want it to move.

 
The floor has also been changed from a 2D sprite to a 3D plane as we needed navigation mesh for the enemy AI.


That is all that has been implemented and changed at the moment.

Game Progress - Report - 26/01/2017

We already starting to putting game together. As we already finished our simple game mechanics. Starting from the mechanics. We have decided to implement a double jump mechanics as also normal jump. We still thinking about making some sort of sliding mechanic that will help player dodging hazards. But that's all from today.






Oh yea I forgot about screenshot.

Also don't forget that this is just a prototype of prototype. And we still struggling with fixing bugs in the game.

First version of bookshelf is done, would be creating different sorting of books next time.
The background of the game is finished as well as a heater and bulletin board that could be attached to it.




Lastly, a simple floor is created. Might be changed at a later date.

First Asset

We have  talked about what assets to use and we have choose that we will use the door I made today and i have done this assets























The final product looks like the one below.
At the end we only used the door of the asset and we didn't need the board.

We working on a new game!

We have decided to work a game that will promote our college. It's called DDRunner. The game is 2D Side scroller platformer which should remind you guys about Super Meat Boy. Or even Mario. This is all I can told you know so wait in patience.
